Technical Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Architect

This is a contract, potentially contract-to-hire role. It is also Hybrid, requiring 3 days/week on site at our customer’s main facility in Media, PA.

Our customer is a family-owned, leading American chain of retail outlets located on the East Coast.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technology Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity individual to partner in the development, planning, implementation, and management of our disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for our customer’s technology landscape. The successful candidate help ensure our technology infrastructure and applications are designed and implemented with disaster recovery and business continuity in mind. This role will require a deep understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity best practices, with a focus on identifying, mitigating, and recovering from potential disruptions and disasters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans that align with the organization’s risk tolerance and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to the technology infrastructure and applications.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices for disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Test and evaluate the effectiveness of disaster recovery and business continuity plans and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors and external partners, to ensure effective disaster recovery and business continuity planning and execution.
• Coordinate and manage the recovery process in the event of a disaster, including communication with stakeholders, identification of critical systems, and activation of recovery plans.
• Provide guidance and training to other teams on disaster recovery and business continuity best practices and procedures.
• Manage and update IT continuity plans for business-critical processes.
• Activities include Business Impact Assessments, Business Continuity Plan Development, Testing & Governance and Assurance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and implementation for complex, distributed systems.
• Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, microservices, and containerization technologies.
• Strong understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity best practices, including risk assessments, impact analyses, and recovery strategies.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to disaster recovery and business continuity, such as HIPAA, PCI, and GDPR.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks and vulnerabilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
